Our History

Pousada Ponta do Mutá is a dream that actually came true… it’s a successful life plan designed by its founder Simone Freitas who, among several places around the Brazilian coast, decided to leave Brasilia and change her entire life to live and work at Maraú Peninsula, specifically at Barra Grande Village.
And so… on December, 26th, 2002, Pousada Ponta do Mutá opened its doors for the first guest and, since then, Simone Freitas offered comfort and wellness ambience to all guest, possible due her affection, attention and competence and, also, due to her staff.
Endowed with charisma and ability to bring people together, Simone’s Inn would became a reference, not only at Maraú Peninsula and the coast of Bahia State, and also, a meeting point for travelers (from all around the world) and for people from Barra Grande. Simone’s social commitment is illustrated by some projects, many of which she has organized for some years. In partnership with other employers and many friends, Simone supported a range of social initiatives focused on education, culture and social needs in projects like “Arte Mainha”, “Escola Estadual Maria Amélia Gene Piraja”, “Escola Comunitária Jardim do Cajueiro”, “Centro Cultural”, a “APA”, “Limpeza de Praia” and “Sarau na Praça”.

After 14 years, Pousada Ponta do Mutá remains committed to offer art and culture, support social and environmental activities and gastronomic events offered to guests and friends.

Since 2009, Simone’s son and daughter are running this business. Since then, they have introduced new management concepts and structure. However, they didn’t forget the example to be followed and kept the wellness ambience, care and charisma to receive and host guests and friends that arrive at the Inn.
