By car
2. The other possibility is to drive to Camamu and, then, go on by boat.
The best way is to take the ferry-boat to Bom Despacho (Itaparica Island) and, from there, take the road to Camamu. From Camamu, it’s possible to reach Barra Grande by boat (faster way) or by land. By land, it’s necessary to take the road BA-001 and the dirty road BR-030.
The way from Vitória da Conquista is the road that leads you to Itabuna. Before arriving in Itabuna, take the road BR-101 forwarding to Salvador. On this way, go to Ubaitaba and to Travessão (Entrance to Camamu – BR-001). From there, it’s possible to reach Barra Grande by boat (faster way) or by land. By land, it’s necessary to take the road BA-001 and the dirty road BR-030.
From Camamu:
Camamu is a city 4 hours far from Salvador (by the ferry-boat) and 1 hour from Itacaré. Boats and speed-boats take passenger from Camamu to Barra Grande during the day.
It’s possible to leave your car in indoor parking lots in Camamu. Â
By Plane
The nearest airport is Ilhéus (IOS). There are daily flights to Ilhéus from Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and São Paulo. The closest international airport is in Salvador (SSA). It is served by most major international air companies.
Transfers
By Bus
From Ilhéus, there are some companies that offer bus to Camamu. It takes around 2hours and half to reach Camamu. Sometimes, the bus stops in Itacaré. From Bom Despacho (Itaparica Island) it’s also easy to get a bus to Camamu.

Speed-boats
It trip from Camamu to Barra Grande, by speed boat, takes around 30 minuts and costs R$ 30,00 per person. It’s possible to chart a speed-boat for a private crossing or for a private tour.
